Best Wine Dinner Value in the City

This celebration of fine food and wine is intimate in scale and will be held in the Bistro's beautiful new Private Dining Room and Wine Vault. If, due to popularity, capacity outgrows db's 20-seat Private Dining Room, the dinner will be held next door (same address) in db's sister restaurant Lumière, at no additional charge and with no change in detail or menu. The newly renovated, 40-seat Lumière is British Columbia's only Grand Chef Relais & Chateaux restaurant. Wine dinner guests should arrive to db Bistro at 2551 West Broadway, where the welcome reception will begin promply at 7pm. Monday Night Wine Dinners generally conclude no later than 10pm.

Wine dinners are social but also informative in nature, with tasting notes and commentary provided by our Sommelier and Wine Director Kevin Van Hullebush and a special guest from or representing the winery.

Monday Night Wine Dinners sell out very quickly, so be sure to reserve your space immediately. A credit card reservation is required upon booking. The cost for the wine dinners is $75 per person, plus tax and gratuity - making these the best wine dinner value in the city.

Please inquire directly with Sommelier Kevin Van Hullebush or Maitre d' Ali Maher, or call either at 604.739.7115.

Tasting Notes

Le Vieux Pin Gewurztraminer 2008: Organically grown fruit from the Westbank region of the Okanagan Valley for lightness and acidity, added to a small amount of fruit from Oliver for extra depth.  The nose on this Gewurztraminer offers plenty of honeysuckle, orange zest and hints of rose petal and lavender.  A crisp acidity up front lends light delicate citrus flavors of white grapefruit and lychee with a fresh, long finish.  This wine in well structured and balanced.

La Stella Vivace Pinot Grigio: A true Pinot Grigio with light gold colour and aromas of lemon, pear and applie finishing with a trace of mint.  Grown organically and harvested in the cooler climate of Westbank; the palate exhibits pear, pineapple, perfume and mineral tones.  Very well balance with a crisp fnish.

Le Vieux Sauvignon Blanc: Majority of fruit comes from  Le Vieux Pin's Lumeno vineyard near Osoyoos Lake where the steep north facing slope allows for a cool microclimate within a warm microclimate.  Cool tropical flavours with great natural acidity.  Partially fermented in oak using 36 month air-dried Billion French Allier oak, with the rest in steel tank.  Finished wine has big pineapple, passion fruit, citrus, and hints of lemon meringue pie on the nose with a mouth-coating palate of lemon, lime, vanilla spice and great acidity.

La Stella Allegretto Merlot:  A lovely crafted food wine with dense plum, dark berry and toasted nut nuances.  Medium bodies, medium tannins with currant, plum and dark berries dominating the palate.  Long, smooth, elegant finish.

About Le Vieux Pin and La Stella Wineries

Located in Oliver at the northernmost tip of the northernmost desert in the world - the Okanagan Valley - Le Vieux Pin and La Stella focus on making terroir representative wines with low-input viticulture methodologies.  Dry farming, minimal intervention and high-density/low yield plantings and biodynamic practices enable the wineries to produce some of the most critically-acclaimed, small batch wines in the valley.
